RASTRICK managed only one Division Two victory in the first half of the Bradford League season.

Their victims on that occasion were Pudsey B and, following the midway split, they were at home to Pudsey in the first fixture of the second half – with a similar outcome.

Mick Whitham and Brian Banks had won three points each for Rastrick in the first meeting and these two players were once again prominent.

Rastrick led three times as Whitham and Banks both won twice. Alex Waring kept Pudsey in touch with two wins, while Granville Thornton and Kingsley Smith both overcame Peter Mitchell.

Smith posted a 17-15 fifth-game success over the unfortunate Mitchell, which levelled the scores at 4-4.

The two unbeaten performers then squared up in the last singles and Whitham came from 2-1 down to beat Waring, before joining Banks to secure their second victory with a 3-0 doubles win.

Embassy-Police B start the second half on top of the Division 1B table but began with a defeat in a marathon encounter at Hermits C.

Four of the first five matches went the distance and Embassy-Police led 3-2 as Tony Boyd and Ian Marshall edged five-game wins over Faz Hussain, while Jak Dabrowski pipped Greg Hill 12-10 in a decider.

Kevin Pickles and Hill had won once each for Hermits at this stage and it was Pickles who turned the match in his side's favour as they won three in a row.

Pickles beat Boyd and Marshall and Hussain both overcame Dabrowski as Hermits led 5-3.

Boyd won the last singles against Hill but Hermits clinched a 6-4 victory as Pickles and Hussain came from 2-1 down to beat Boyd and Marshall.
