THE top two teams in Division Two of the Bradford League put their 100 per cent records on the line when they squared up for the first time this season.

Hermits D hosted Fastbats A, and it was no surprise that the outcome went to the last game.

Craig Knowles had not lost a match so far for Fastbats, while Ian Warner and Pete Johnson had both lost just once for Hermits.

Knowles continued his impressive run as Fastbats made the early running.

Keith Smith put them ahead, beating Maurice Biott, and Helen Shields was unlucky not to make it 2-0 but she was pipped 16-14 in the fifth game by Johnson.

Knowles showed why he has yet to lose as he beat Warner 3-0, and Fastbats kept their noses in front at 4-3.

Hermits finished the stronger, however, as Warner and Biott took the last two singles to put them ahead for the first time.

In the deciding doubles, Johnson and Warner were 2-0 up but Smith and Shields came back to win the next two.

However, the home pair had the last word, winning the decider 11-8 to maintain Hermits' perfect record.

In Division One, Hermits C recorded a welcome victory over Embassy Police B, thanks to a terrific performance from former Unity player Kevin Pickles, who starred in their 6-4 success.

Hermits led 4-0 but needed a decider in three of the four sets.

Greg Hill won one, Pickles took two and Paul Mckrieth added a further one as they laid the foundations for victory.

Rod Robertson reduced the arrears for Police as he beat Hill 13-11 in the fifth, but Hermits clinched the points when Mckrieth won his second against Paul Stephenson, and, fittingly, Pickles completed his treble against Robertson.
