BRADFORD Esprit Diving Club enjoyed a successful Irish Open Championships.

A team of 17 divers travelled to the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin to represent Bradford in an open competition for all abilities from novice, age group, elite juniors and seniors.

The club's success was clearly demonstrated by both personal bests and numerous medals within the team.

A shining star of the competition was Bradford’s Holly Waxman, who brought home a handful of medals. Firstly, she earned a silver on the one-metre springboard and was named overall top junior on the one-metre board.

Holly also achieved gold in the open platform event and earned the title of National Open Platform Champion. She later received a silver medal for the three-metre springboard event and was placed top junior.

Owen Taylor and Abbie Hindle (both Group D) claimed one silver/two gold medals and a bronze respectively. Joseph Verity (Group E) seized a bronze medal, despite having an injury, which was later confirmed as a fractured foot. Another gold was achieved by Owen Passmore in the Skills Group B.

The team also included Domi Hinchliffe, Gina Webb, Matilda Whitaker, Hannah Stanley, Phoebe Roe, Kate Curran, Hannah Hall, Georgina Whitaker, Harry Spencer, Ben Mullet, Joseph Nichol and Koben O’Driscoll.

The squad were coached by head coach Joe Meszaros and Dave Cowen. Parent chaperones in attendance were Tracy Hindle and Stephanie Verity.

Bradford Esprit diving club is part of the Bradford Council diving scheme and is based at Shipley Pool.
