CITY of Bradford Swimming Club newcomer Hermione Roe struck gold seven times in the Yorkshire Swimming Association's Winter Championships at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds.

The Addingham youngster's top performance came in the 50 metres breaststroke, where she recorded a winning time of

35.09sec in what the club believe to be one of the fastest ever swims for an 11-year-old girl.

Hermione took six other county titles – the 50m and 100m freestyle, 50m and 100m butterfly, 200m individual medley and 100m breaststroke.

She also won silver in the 50m backstroke and bronze in the 100m backstroke.

City's gold rush continued when 11-year-old Cameron Green finished top of the rostrum in the 100m breaststroke and he was also runner-up in the 50m and 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly, took bronze position in the 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly and had two further top-ten finishes.

Sophia Basaraba looked impressive as she won the 50m backstroke in 33.91sec, and she was also runner-up in the 100m backstroke and had two other top-ten placings.

Archie Dunne and Archie Minto, both competing as 13-year-olds, swam well-paced races over the shorter distances, with Dunne claiming gold in the 50m backstroke and silver in the 50m freestyle, and Minto silver in the 50m butterfly and bronze in the 100m backstroke.

Newcomer Charlotte Gibbs was the other medallist, claiming bronze in the 14 years 100m breaststroke and fourth place in the 50m breaststroke.

Other top-ten placings went to Abigail Shuttleworth (3), Wilbur Summerson (3), Simran Mander (3), Dunne (3), Minto (3), Jovana Lugonja (2), Gracie Beaumont (2), Cameron Mander (2), John Luke Hutchinson (2), Ella Stabler and Ben Grimshaw.

Motivational times, which were introduced last season, went to Green, Basaraba, Dunne, Minto, Ben Grimshaw, Cameron and Simran Mander, Beaumont, Charlotte Gibbs and Wilbur Summerson.

All of the swimmers train with Bradford Leisure Services' aquatic development programme under the guidance of head coach Andy Pearce and development coach Sarah Fisher.
