CITY of Bradford Esprit Diving Club's Evie Webb has won an international gold medal – a reward for training six days a week for many years.

The 17-year-old, who has been a club member for seven years after being spotted at a schools' talent search, won the Girls' Group A three-metre springboard event at the International Diving Trophy in Barcelona.

Over 300 competitors, some from the Spanish, Dutch and German national teams, took part and Webb was also fourth in the one-metre springboard event and seventh in the platform.

Gina Webb and Dominique Hinchliffe were competing in the same age group, with the consistent Webb finishing 11th in the three-metre springboard and 16th in the one-metre springboard.

Hinchliffe was 16th in the three-metre springboard and 17th in the one-metre springboard.

In the Girls' Group B age category, Holly Waxman was fourth in the platform and one-metre springboard and eighth in the three-metre springboard, as well as showcasing some new dives on the ten-metre platform.

Likewise, Emily Field was displaying some new routines and was 18th in the one-metre, 16th in the three-metre and 12th in the platform.

Lucy Robinson was the third Esprit diver in this section, coming 17th in both the one-metre springboard and platform events.

Hinchliffe teamed up with Gina Webb in the synchro, finishing seventh – an impressive result considering it was their first outdoor event.

In the Boys' Group B section, Joseph Nichol was 23rd in the one-metre springboard, 22nd on the three-metre springboard and 15th in the platform event.

Koben O'Driscoll, competing against rivals who were up to two years older, performed consistently in coming 14th in the one-metre springboard, 28th in the three-metre springboard and 25th in the platform.

In Girls' Group C, Rosa Scally – making her debut at an outdoor venue – was 33rd in the one-metre springboard, 26th in the three-metre springboard and 23rd in the platform.

Former Esprit diver Will Hallam (City of Leeds) won bronze in the men's one-metre event.
