Bradford ice skater Harry Mattick has been selected for the Great Britain team that will compete in the 2012 Junior World Figure Skating Championships.

Harry, 18, was chosen by the National Ice Skating Association (NISA) to skate in the men’s category of the Championship in Minsk, Belarus, from February 27 to March 4.

Last year’s British junior champion will skate in the preliminary rounds of the Championship, along with the other selected members of the GB squad, in the hope of qualifying for the main event.

Harry said: “I was really pleased to be chosen for the team. It is an exciting opportunity to compete against some of the best skaters in the world and represent Britain at a prestigious skating event.

“It has been a good season so far, and hopefully I can produce another strong performance in Minsk.”
