SARAH Davies, who was in a four-way tie for bronze at the halfway stage, came through to take -69kg silver in the Commonwealth Games weightlifting.
Davies, who combines weightlifting with being a beauty queen, got into the sport while training to be a PE teacher at university in Leeds, where she was crowned Miss Leeds in 2012.
The 25-year-old Ilkley Grammar School teacher matched the silver secured by her partner Jack Oliver on Saturday.
She said: “He would have been upset if I’d got that gold medal,” she said. “I couldn’t have him beating me, so we had to at least match.”
