BRADFORD'S Brett Hawthorn, who is in dispute with British Wrestling over being ruled out of next year's Commonwealth Games, has not let the controversy affect his form.
Hawthorn, who is seeking a re-match with Charlie Bowling in a bid to get to Gold Coast, won the Irish Open Championships in Dublin, pinning all of his opponents in the 65kg category.
Teams from Canada, Moldova, Poland and the Czech Republic were among those in attendance, but Brett's gold medal was not the only one to be won by Bradford Amateur Wrestling Club.
Richard Tukes, from Burley-in-Wharfedale, who is also a Commonwealth Games contender, won the heavyweight division.
