DENHOLME Olympian Rebekah Tiler has added to her already-impressive medal tally after winning silver in the International Weightlifting Federation World Junior Championships in Tokyo.

The former Bingley Grammar School pupil lifted 102kg in the snatch and 123kg in the clean and jerk to claim two bronzes in the individual categories.

And her combined lift of 225kg was enough to clinch overall silver in the 69kg female section.

That put her ahead of third-placed Ukrainian Hanna Panova, whose total lift was 223kg, and behind winner Chuwei Yi.

The Chinese girl posted 104kg in the snatch and 126kg in the clean and jerk for a 230kg success.

Tiler, aged 18, tweeted: "Just become world silver medalist in Tokyo. Thanks to my coach Giles Greenwood and Dave Sawyer for coaching in Tokyo. Next time gold."

Having earned a top ten spot in the Olympics in Rio last summer, Tiler backed that up in April with her first European senior medal when she won silver in the snatch in Split.

And, despite having her funding withdrawn by UK Sport for the current cycle up to the next Olympics – which also take place in Tokyo in 2020 – Tiler is continuing her run of success.
