BRADFORD'S Coral Batey is one of three Yorkshire athletes named in the Paralympics GB wheelchair rugby team for Rio.
She was named in the squad of 12 along with Rotherham-born Gavin Walker, who trains in Sheffield, and Jamie Stead, from Normanton.
Batey said of her selection: “It’s still not sunk in to be honest, I was overwhelmed. I made myself proud – the training I’ve done over the last two years has worked, it’s really paid off.
"It’s an amazing thing, but you’ve just got to carry on training hard and treat it just like another competition.”
Performance director and team leader Lorraine Brown said: “I am delighted for these athletes, it’s a fantastic achievement.
"We still have a lot of hard work to do as we maximise our final preparation with the selected team, and I am excited to see them in action out in Rio and what they can do.”
