BRADFORD'S two snooker sides had mixed results against the same opposition in the Yorkshire Inter-District League.

The No 1 team had started the season slowly but enjoyed a 5-1 victory over Harrogate before Christmas and posted another 5-1 success at Leeds No 2 on Saturday.

Wayne Cooper started the ball rolling with a 65-1 win against Tommy Doherty and backed this up with a 61-32 victory.

Kevin Firth edged two closely-fought frames against Chris Hart 44-38 and 62-45 and while Lewis Walsh lost his opener 69-16 against Stephen Broadhead, he made a break of 72 to take the last frame 74-1.

Bradford No 2 the faced Leeds No 2 on Sunday at Cue Gardens and lost 4-2.

Hanif Rafiq won both his frames against Doherty, including a break of 55 in his second frame, but that was as good as it got for the hosts.

Peter Hamilton fought back from 60 behind to almost snatch the win, only to fall short at pink and black, but opponent Broadhead made no mistakes in the second frame, making a break of 78.

Boover Singh took on Hart in the last two frames but never really played at his best, with Hart taking the spoils and with it the team victory.

Bradford's inter-district billiards match against Harrogate at Great Horton Cons on Saturday was postponed at short notice and will be rearranged in due course.
