SIX-times world snooker champion Steve Davis treated spectators at Field Sports & Social Club to a superb night of top-quality snooker, tricks shots and all-round entertainment.

Davis started off well against Field club player Nick Hale, a break of 56 warming the 'Nugget' up nicely, before a superb break of 103 against South Bradford League champion Jason Murgatroyd set the tone for more to follow.

A comfortable frame win against Field player Dan Hale put Davis three up against the collective – but Bradford No 1's captain and England Masters international Kevin Firth put Davis to the sword with effortless quickfire breaks of 32 and 61 to leave the former world No 1 speechless.

Fifth up was 2010 Yorkshire champion and four-time Bradford champion Gareth Green but he did not get a look in, with Davis rattling off 12 reds and 12 blacks for a break of 96 when a maximum was on the cards.

In frame six, Davis played Mark Slater – a mainstay in the Bradford team set-up for over 15 years and a South Bradford League regular – and it was Slater who came out on top with some solid snooker as Davis struggled to get a foothold.

There were then two raffle prizes to play a frame and Stuart Harker was one of those lucky winners, although it looked as though the break-off would be his only shot.

Davis was once again on course for a maximum break – 15 reds and 15 blacks for a break of 120, only breaking down as the white rested against the yellow after potting black.

The final frame was against Keith Walker, who performed admirably in making a break of 22 but eventually lost out as Davis turned the screw.

Davis' trick-shot routine was as fantastic as ever. The stories of days gone by left everyone in stitches and the man himself certainly enjoyed himself, commenting that the set-up at the club and the atmosphere was brilliant, aided by a knowledgeable audience, with jokes and banter making for a fun night.
