ONE of Bradford's most efficient and longest-serving administrators is to have a trophy in his memory.

The Eric Hodgkinson Trophy, named in honour of the man who was secretary of the Bradford Snooker & Billiards Association for over 25 years, will be presented to the inaugural winner of the Heineken Bradford Snooker Handicap on Saturday at Eccleshill Victoria Conservative Club (7.30).

The final of the tournament, which has been a roaring success under tournament directors Eddie Ratcliffe and Dave Parrott, is between Undercliffe Cricket Club duo Adam Tipper and Sonny Sandhu.

Hodgkinson, who died in 2013, also organised all the Bradford Association's competitions and managed Bradford's snooker and billiards teams, as well as being secretary of the Yorkshire Association.

As if this wasn't enough, Eric also represented Yorkshire at national level and helped run the England team in the Home Internationals.

Eric's wife Brenda is delighted that the Bradford Association is to recognise the hard work and effort that her husband put in for many years and feels proud that his name will live on.

It is hoped that Hodgkinson's close friend Bill Oates will present the trophy on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bradford's billiards team had another superb victory in the Yorkshire Inter-District League – by 5-2 over Huddersfield No 1.

Paul Devitt beat Mathew Peaker, a member of the Yorkshire team that recently won the National Inter-County Championship 200-91.

Steve Wilman and Peaker's father Dave then kept close order until, with the score at 124-130, Wilman produced breaks of 34 and 24 in quick succession before finishing off a 200-137 victory.

However, the boot was on the other foot in the third game, where Bradford captain Stephen Kershaw fell 200-150 to Steve Whiteley.
