Bradford Bulldogs broke their points duck for the season as they won one and lost one during a home double header in English National League North Division Two.
It began with an 8-0 defeat to high-flying Solihull Barons but the Bulldogs hit back the next day with a 13-0 romp that left Grimsby Redwings bottom of the table.
The young Bradford side were unlucky to be trailing 1-0 to Solihull at the end of the first period but the experienced visitors then took control to surge 5-0 up during the second.
The Bulldogs steadied the ship in the final period and the final eight-goal deficit did not reflect their effort.
The following day saw a dramatic reversal of fortune as Grimsby were put to the sword, with Jack Oakley and Jordan Ashington both on the hat-trick trail.
Josh Stockton, Rob Whittleston and Oakley made it 3-0 in the first period, with Ashington (2), Max Mallas and Oakley boosting the tally to seven by the end of the second.
Bradford continued to dominate in the third period as Christian Wareing, Whittleston, Ashington, Oakley, Steve Butler and Christopher Armitage completing the scoring.
Coach Charles Dacres said he was proud of his young team as they never gave up throughout the weekend.
But he acknowledged there is still plenty of work to be done if the Bulldogs are to be a force in the league.
