KEIGHLEY'S Muhammad Ali made it two wins out of two for the British Lionhearts this season on an emotional night at London's York Hall.

Ali and his Great Britain team-mates had been attending a community event at Westminster when they witnessed Wednesday's terror attack in the capital.

Just 30 hours later, the former Bradford College pupil was first in the ring as the Lionhearts took on Italia Thunder in the World Series of Boxing fixture.

He admitted: "All day, I couldn't get it out of my head because we saw everything."

Yet Ali claimed victory over fellow Rio Olympian Manuel Cappai, though he certainly didn't have things all his own way in the 52kg flyweight encounter.

Ali’s jab worked well early on but switch-hitter Cappai caught his opponent with a big left a minute into the second round that left the Brit rocked.

A referee warning for the Italian in the third shifted the balance of a compelling contest once again, and even some pinpoint uppercuts weren’t enough in the face of an Ali onslaught, who earned a unanimous points win to ensure the hosts had the early advantage.

The Lionhearts didn't look back as wins for Calum French, Pat McCormack, Radoslav Pantaleev and Fraser Clarke also won their bouts to triumph 5-0 and extend their lead at the top of Group B with two matches of the preliminaries to go.

It capped off an emotional two days for the boxers, who were shaken up after seeing the attack on murdered PC Keith Palmer unfold, with their coach Tony Davis trying to help efforts to save his life.

Despite being troubled by the incident, they were determined to go ahead with the fixture.
