KEIGHLEY'S Ibrahim Nadim made up for disappointment 12 months ago as he clinched a title in the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs' Boxing Championships.

The 17-year-old was controversially beaten on points in last year's final at Bristol when his camp felt the decision should have gone the other way.

But there was no mistaking his victory in this season's 46-49kg final at Bridlington Spa as he beat Dagenham ABC's Kerim Agius on points by a unanimous verdict.

His trainer Mike Jelley said: "He boxed really well. He outfought his opponent by a mile in the first two rounds and nearly had him on a standing count.

"He tired a bit in the third round but he was really impressive."

The Bury Amateur Boxing Club member has been in particularly good form, having won his last five bouts by unanimous decisions.

Jelley added: "Ibrahim is maturing and listening to what we are telling him.

"Other coaches at Bridlington were saying what a brilliant performance it was from him."

The teenager will now prepare for the English Youth Championships early next year.
