Weather forecasting can be difficult in spring but one thing is clear – there will definitely be a Whirlwind in Bingley this June.
Six-times World Championship runner-up Jimmy White, who will be 50 on May 2, is to face Keighley’s Chris Melling over the best of seven frames at the newly-refurbished York Street Sports & Social Club on Saturday, June 9 (7.30pm).
There will also be a charity auction for the chance to play White, as well as trick shots and a question-and-answer session with the ‘people’s champion’.
Proceeds from the evening will help to send Mia Brown, who was born in July last year, to Duke Medical University in America for stem cell treatment. Standard tickets cost £20 and corporate tickets, which include a champagne reception, cost £50. Doors open at 6pm and tickets can be booked from former Bingley snooker professional Mick Speight on 07414-960956 or at mjks27@mail.com.
