Wood takes over at Bradford helm

Laurence Wood has been elected president of the Bradford Union for this season, succeeding Ian Page.

Born in Liverpool, the 12-handicapper’s golfing career started at West Lancashire Golf Club at an early age.

He joined Preston in his twenties before moving to live in Yorkshire and joining Bradford in 1977.

He was captain of the Hawksworth club in 2001.

Meanwhile, Tim Wade will continue as Bradford Union captain, while, in a new appointment, Cec Bloice has been named vice-captain.

The Hove Edge course has been listed along side other notable courses such as Musselburgh Old in Scotland (one of the original courses of the British Open Championship).
