BINGLEY Harriers runner Martha Jackson was triumphant last Wednesday in the Year Six Girls' race at the West Yorkshire Schools Games Cross Country Finals at Temple Newsam in Leeds.
She narrowly beat her fellow Bradford Schools runner Phoebe Midgley into second place and in doing so, secured her spot at this Saturday's national finals in Loughborough.
A fantastic sprint finish saw Harriers runner Charlie Robinson finish in second place in the Year Four Boys' race. His silver medal ensured that he would be joining Martha at the nationals.
There will be plenty of tired legs for many of our local runners this weekend. The national finals take place on Saturday but just a day later, the first English Junior Fell Championship race of the season will be run in the Lake District.
Several of this region's youngsters will be competing in both, in what they hope will be a successful, if exhausting, weekend!
