MARC Armitage (Littlemoor) won the first Spen Winter Sweep, defeating Chris Mordue (Pudsey) 21-18 in the final.

The weather was kind and the green was in superb condition as the action got underway, with Armitage coming through a tough field.

He proved that he can compete with the best with wins over Mally Fowler (Ladyhill) 21-20, Kez Smith (Crossgates) 21-15, Josh Brown (Netherton) 21-20 and Josh Mordue (Pudsey) 21-14, before seeing off Mordue senior.

The action continues this Saturday with another class field.

Webb was in terrific form in all of his five matches and fully deserved his win, although Wolfenden could easily have pinched it.
