THE chairman of Bradford Crown Green Bowls Association has praised the boost given to the community after a local shopping giant agreed to continue its sponsorship of the organisation.

Homeware store Damart, which has a site based in Bingley, will extend its sponsorship of the city's biggest bowls association into its third year.

Damart currently sponsors the Mixed Pairs Merit competition, and is set to extend that support.

Chairman Tony Riley said: “We are very grateful for the sponsorship and advertisement for our association from Damart once again. It is a tremendous help and boost to everyone at the club.”

Bradford Crown Green Bowls Association currently has 57 clubs under its authority from across Bradford and the surrounding areas.

It hosts the Monday and Wednesday evening leagues as well as the Mixed Pairs competition – all of which will continue to benefit from the backing.

Damart's site in Bingley employs over 600 staff.

Head of Ecommerce at Damart, Ben Phillips, said: “With more than 600 staff in Bingley and Steeton, we are keen to support the local community and are delighted to be helping support the Bowls Association through this sponsorship agreement.”
