BRADFORD No 1 AA

SUNDAY'S committee match at Queen Mary's Ponds in Ripon will draw in the car park. The lakes have been fishing very well over the last couple of weeks for tench around 4lb on corn or pellet.

There are a few tickets remaining for the veteran (over-60s) match at Raskelf on Sunday, June 11. Entry is £5 and contact Simon (01274-571175) to book on.

With only a month to go until the start of this year's Calder League, teams are now being filled. Anybody wishing to enter a team of eight into this year's series should contact Simon on the number above.

Junior member Evan McDonald had a day to remember at Gratrix Dam last weekend. After catching his first ever tench, Evan caught 15 ide, mostly around the 1lb mark, with the biggest in excess of 6lb, and a chub about 4lb. All were caught on pole, fishing 18-inch deep with double red maggot.

LEEDS ASA

Rainbow Lake at Kippax has been electro fished, and well over 300lb of quality fish were transferred to other lakes on the complex. Work has been carried out at the following sites: the road at Linton has been re-surfaced, a car park at Moor Monkton on the Nidd has been created, and the car park at Newton on Ouse has been refurbished and several swims have been cleared. The first match of the coarse season is on Saturday, June 17 at Ulleskelf, and bookings are now being taken. Result of the match at Kippax (Lapwing) on Tuesday, May 23: 1 A Broomhead 83lb 10oz, 2 N Rymer 81lb 6oz, 3 R Oldroyd 80lb 14oz. Result of the match on Wednesday, May 24 at Moor Monkton: 1 M Gallagher 163lb 3oz, 2 G Wright 101lb 1oz, 3 D Pollitt 100lb 8oz.

BRADFORD SEA AC

We have a trip to Rhyl next Tuesday. Will all people who are booked on this trip, please ring Dave (07711-987833) the night before for a weather report. Fishing is now improving on both coasts. On the east coast around Whitby, some good cod and pollock are being caught on rough ground and on the wrecks. The west coast is also picking up now, with bull huss, mackerel, whiting, dabs, dogfish, gurnard and smoothhound being caught. After last week's spring tides, tope should also be making an appearance. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, June 20 at the New Inn, East Bierley (8pm).

LISTERHILLS AA

After a period of illness, Trevor Noel, a well-known angling figure from the Armley area, has died. Condolences are extended to his family. Result of the match at Calverley last Saturday, which was spoiled by torrential rain and thunderstorms: 1 E Harrison 3lb 2oz (mostly skimmers), 2 M Smith 1lb 8oz (catch of perch). BINGLEY AC

Coppice is fishing well, with tench and lots of small rudd being caught.The Bingley action team will be having another clean-up on the River Aire on Sunday, June 11. Meet in the rugby club car park off Wagon Lane at 10am.
