EMBASSY Police A maintained their fantastic Bradford League record by adding the Burton Cup to their Division One title for the fourth season in a row.

Highdale provided the opposition in the final and they were the last team to win these two competitions back in 2012.

The early advantage went to Highdale as Peter Morgan overcame John Chew – but the dynamic duo of James Hobson and Tim Dyson soon got to work and Police surged to a 5-2 victory.

Hobson took all three of his singles, while Dyson had wins over Jack Grant and Yonni Caspi.

Meanwhile, Helen Shields of Fastbats produced a great performance on the veterans circuit by taking the ladies singles in the over-60s event at the Western Masters in Bristol.

Shields was unseeded but came through her group unbeaten, including a victory over third seed Penny Perry.

In the knockout stages, Shields overcame Carol Judson and Brenda Buoey in straight games to reach the semi-finals, where she came up against top seed Teresa Devanney.

Shields had lost to Devanney in the over-50s event in four games but turned the tables with a 3-0 success to reach the final.

She then faced number four seed Dianne St Ledger for the title and raced into a 2-0 lead but then lost the next two games before coming out on top 11-8 in the decider.
