THE top of Division One has a familiar look about it at the halfway stage of the Bradford Table Tennis League season.

Embassy Police A, who have won all ten of their matches so far and are going to take some stopping, are in pole position to make it four championships in a row.

Police finished the first half of the campaign with an 8-2 victory over Hermits B, and once again their two most consistent performers led the way.

Tim Dyson added three more singles to take his tally to 23 wins from 24 and he sits on top of the averages, while ever-present John Chew also won three to make it 26 wins from 30.

In Division Two, Pudsey A, who have also won all ten matches, lead Unity A by 29 points.

Zoe Cheeseman is spearheading Pudsey's title charge with 21 wins from 24 starts and, along with Andrew Gradwell, Doug Bartle and Richard Abrahams, they are head and shoulders above the rest.

It is a similar story in Division Three, where Hermits G are the stand-out performers, winning ten of their 11 matches to hold a 29-point lead over Baildon A, although the latter have two games in hand.

League chairman Martin Jackson has been their most consistent performer with 30 wins from 33, and he has received good support from Les Packer and Terry Halliday.

At the head of Division Four, it is a little closer, with Baildon B leading the way.

They have eight wins from nine matches and 88 points.

Hermits J and Baildon C are in pursuit but Baildon have Steve Crossland and John Atkinson in the leading four places in the averages, and are favourites at the moment.
