IT WAS home sweet home at last for Hermits B in Division One of the Bradford League.

Hermits had won two away games but had lost all five of their home fixtures prior to facing Embassy Police B.

The teams had a tight contest earlier in the season, which Embassy won, and it was another close call in the return fixture as Hermits took it 6-4.

Hermits looked in control as they led 5-2, with Kevin Pickles and Greg Hill taking two wins each and Fazal Hussain adding a single.

But Embassy hit back as Jac Dabrowski stopped Hill and Tony Boyd came from 2-0 down to beat Hussain and set up a deciding doubles, which went the way of Hermits as Pickles and Hussain won in straight games.

Division Two leaders Pudsey B were given a stern examination as they looked to maintain their unbeaten record.

Second-placed Hermits C led three times as Shamir Bose had wins over Richard Abrahams and Linda Sanderson, while Peter Holbrook also beat Sanderson. But Andrew Gradwell came up trumps for Pudsey as they fought back to win 6-4.

Gradwell stopped Bose in five games and Abrahams was successful against Braithwaite and Holbrook, with these two also combining to take the doubles 3-0 and make it ten wins in a row for their team.

In Division Four, honours were even between Hermits K and Hermits L, with Michael Butler going the extra mile for the K team.

Hermits L led 5-3 as Mick Raine and Philip Craven both won twice, while John Rawnsley added a single.

Butler was unbeaten for Hermits K, overcoming Rawnsley 11-8 in the fifth, and he just pipped Raine 14-12 in the decider.

In the final singles, Butler beat Craven in four games before teaming up with Joe Healey to take the doubles, again in five games, to share the points.
