BRADFORD Dragons added the final two pieces for their 2016-17 roster with the signings of experienced forward Semi Eboigbe and guard Rob Donaldson.

Nigerian-born Eboigbe, who has dual nationality, has previously played for, among others, Westfalen Mustangs (Germany), Lemvig BK (Denmark), Haga Haninge (Sweden), Stockholm Basketball (Sweden) and Mersey Tigers of the British Basketball League.

Donaldson has signed from Tees Valley Mohawks, who were relegated from Division One of the National Basketball League last season, but has previously played for the Dragons' second team in Division Four of the English Basketball League.

Eboigbe said: "I'm looking forward to working with the coach (Chris Mellor) and the team. I like the coach's hunger for the game – he's a workaholic and his desire to win is what I'm looking for. I need to be pushed and I believe that coach Mellor will push this team to success.

"The management team are all very approachable, down-to-earth people, so again I'm looking forward to working with them.

"My team-mates have welcomed and encouraged me from day one, so really I couldn't hope for more. Both on and off the court, the lads in this team are a unit.

"I haven't played in England since 2013 but I'm happy to be back and hope to be winning trophies with this team. Personally, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now but Bradford Dragons."

Mellor, widely respected as one of the top coaches in the British game, said: "Semi brings some experience and toughness and he does a lot of things that don't necessarily show on the stats sheet sometimes but make a team function effectively. He understands the game and it's a good signing for us."

Donaldson said: "I'm happy to have returned to the Dragons and my team-mates have embraced me. There is still a lot of work to be done. However, we all look forward to the challenge of competing and bringing a championship to the City of Bradford."

Mellor added: "Rob proved with his performances while playing for Tees Valley that he can compete at this level and he's a guy who should be able to contribute at both ends of the floor for us. He has competition for minutes at his position but I think he's tough and will look forward to the challenge."

Both players lined up with the rest of the Bradford team as they faced an American Select team in an exhibition game at Bradford University.

Despite the Dragons getting off to a great start, the US side – who played a full-court press throughout – took the plaudits 97-68.

Bradford's own Americans led their scoring, with Ricky Fetske sinking 14 points and Marcus Gooding adding 13.

Mellor said: "Obviously the scoreline was very disappointing. They hit 15 threes and we didn't do a good job handling their physicality.

"But it was a useful exercise in terms of everyone getting minutes, getting in game shape and working on some things we want to implement at both ends of the floor."

The Dragons start their season with a home National Trophy fixture against last season's quadruple winners Manchester Magic at Bradford College Sports Hall, Trinity Road, tonight (6.15pm).
