YORKSHIRE are the British Crown Green Ladies Waterloo Cup champions after an emphatic 91-point win over Wales at Burton-upon-Trent.

The Yorkshire team, sponsored by Damart, conquered tricky greens and heavy downpours at the Stretton venue to triumph 446-355.

Fern Beaumont (Paddock C&B), captain of the Yorkshire junior away team and playing in her first ladies final, produced an amazing 21-0 success.

There were further big victories for Jacquie Roper (Meltham) and Mo Chambers (Glasshoughton), both winning to six, Debbie Talbot (New Mill) 21-7, Suzi Ladbrooke (Lockwood Cons) 21-8 and Katie Turner (Rothwell) 21-9.

Dawn Bray (Ossett Flying Horse) also had a great turn-around from 13-4 down to triumph 21-14 as Yorkshire made a great start by winning seven of the first eight jacks.
