HOLDERS Yorkshire crashed out of the British Parks County Championship after slumping 23-8 to Greater Manchester.

The away team travelled to Metros at Stretford and could only manage two winners – Craig Hebbard (Littlemoor) 21-13 and Josh Mordue (Pudsey) 21-16 – losing the aggregate by 59 chalks in a 12-2 defeat.

Questions have to be asked about the choice of Hanging Heaton as a home venue as Yorkshire suffered an embarrassing defeat by six chalks in losing 8-6.

There is no problem with Hanging Heaton as a green but having home players who hardly use it is surely the reason why they came unstuck against a strong Greater Manchester team.

Great performances came from Alexis Lunn-Gadd 21-3, Andrea Buckley 21-4 and Debbie Talbot 21-7 but the performance of the match was from Helen Gilroy, who trailed 11-0 before turning it around to win 21-18.
