AFTER an opening victory over Lancashire in the British Crown Green County Championship, Yorkshire now take on Cheshire on Sunday.

The home match is at Crosland Moor and the away match at Meadowbank BC, Winsford, with a victory surely seeing them progress to the semi-finals – even with a game to play against Wales on Sunday, July 3.

* Holders Leeds won the Yorkshire Parks Inter-City after defeating Sheffield 8-4 in the final hosted by Barkston Ash, although some of the greens were not up to standard for such a prestigious competition.

Leeds emerged from a tough group featuring Bradford and Aire-Wharfe, only making it through by a point, while Sheffield came through a slightly easier pool, only dropping seven points in three group games. The final at Thorner could then have gone either way.
