FLYWEIGHT Nicola Adams is two victories away from completing her full set of global medals.
The former Bradford College student is through to the semi-finals of the Women's World Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan – but was pushed all the way in her last-eight bout.
Chinese Taipei opponent Yu-Ting Lin, boxing to reach the Rio Olympics, towered over the Leeds-based fighter and was aggressive too, catching Adams with a hefty right.
The latter had to use all of her skills, jab and footwork to edge the closest of decisions, a right cross seconds before the final bell maybe tipping it her way.
Adams, who meets home fighter Zhaina Shekerbekova this afternoon, said of Lin: "It was really tough. It was the hardest fight of this competition.
"But you've just got to deal with things as they come along. I've got a lot of experience and I can adapt to pretty much any opponent."
Adams has won European, Commonwealth and Olympic gold but has only ever won silver – three times – in the World Championships.
