Harold Park beat Tyersal A 21-9 as Andrew Walker, Julie Darvill and Stewart Firth all carded 21-8 winning cards, while West Bradford A defeated Rufford B by the same score, Bill Hutchinson 21-5 and Malcolm Crotty 21-6 being the pick of seven home winners for the hosts.

Hollies S&SC, who are playing their home matches at Armley Liberal Club, got the better of Wibsey A in a low-scoring game, winning 18-12.

John Stevenson’s 21-5 and Mick Frost’s 21-6 were in vain as Ken Stockhill 21-1, Carol Robinson 21-3, Walter Stockhill 21-6 and Duncan McPhail 21-8 turned the game in favour of Hollies.

Kenny Bedford starred for Crowghyll A with a stunning 21-4 success at Harold Club, ensuring they left with a 15-15 draw.

A full house of winners for Hove Edge B led them to a 30-0 trouncing of Oakenshaw A in the Haigh League, with Linda Gledhill 21-8, Jane Davy 21-8, Marie Lockwood 21-8 and Lynne Hobson 21-9 providing the girl power.

Guiseley B scored a 26-4 win over Eccleshill C, with Roger Garnett 21-5, Martin Wilson 21-5 and Colin Matthewman 21-9 doing the damage for the hosts.

Another team with the female touch are Cleckheaton Sports A, who eased to a 23-7 win over Brackenhill, Joyce Ellis 21-1 and Val Wilson 21-6 being assisted by a great 21-8 from David Griffiths.

Neil Duxbury and Graham Wood both scored 21-9 victories for Bradford Moor A at Queensbury A as the hosts turned it around to win the match 17-13, thanks to Graham Pearson 21-1, Michael Clare 21-3 and Margaret Lee 21-7.

Andy Robertson 21-0 and Alison Woodfine’s 21-6 for Stanningley A was not enough to earn a home victory as David Kent replied for Birkenshaw, with both teams having to settle for a share of the spoils.

Horsforth Woodside B carded an impressive 23-7 win at Wibsey B in the Riley League, with Karllel Hepworth 21-1, Kath Hey 21-5, Graham Hey 21-5 and David Hill 21-6 the pick of six away winners.

Judy Cockroft 21-3 and Jean Ekins 21-6 helped Hove Edge C to a 20-10 home win over Cleckheaton Moorend, while Bert Haigh 21-6 and Bob Hiley 21-9 starred for Asa Briggs C as they defeated Rufford C 18-12, with John Hudson replying for the visitors with a 21-6 success.

Martin Sherred’s 21-4 win for Salts was in vain as Jan Marshall 21-5, Stuart Briggs 21-7 and Sandra Franz 21-8 ensured Bailiff Bridge A took the game 17-13.

Bowling A got the better of Akroydon Victoria B 16-14 in a low-scoring game, with Pat Wagstaff 21-6, Keith Robertson 21-8 and Roy Dennison 21-9 starring for the hosts, with David Avery 21-3 and Mick Uttley 21-4 replying for the visitors.

Crowghyll B defeated Queensbury B 24-6 in the Field Packaging League, thanks to wins from Celia Throup 21-6, Peter Storey 21-7, Barbara Slingsby 21-8 and Maureen Jarvis 21-9, while Linda Crawford 21-8 and Margaret Williams 21-9 helped West Royd to a 23-7 success over Horton, despite a great 21-9 from Pat Cates.

The other three matches all finished 18-12, with Hipperholme & Lightcliffe B, Farsley and Guiseley C defeating Shelf, Cleckheaton Sports B and West Bradford B respectively.

James Wriggles 21-6 and Beverley Clayton 21-9 were the pick of six home winners for Hipperholme. Nigel Peel 21-7 and Graham Petty 21-9 starred for Farsley, Andy Robinson replying with a 21-7 for Cleckheaton Sports. Guiseley and West Bradford B carded five winners each in another low-scoring game, Gerald Webster 21-4, Matthew Ramsey 21-5, Stan Marsden 21-7 and Margaret Orchard 21-9 starring for Guiseley, with John Dale 21-5, Tony Oldfield 21-9 and Pat Edden 21-9 replying for West Bradford.

Tyersal B started the season with a 23-5 home win over Bailiff Bridge B in the Mellor League, helped by Roy Hird 21-0, Edgar Rhodes 21-1 and Jamie Lindley 21-2.

Stella Doherty’s 21-8 was one of two away winners for Queensbury C as they went down 20-8 against Bradford Moor B, Janet Gatenby 21-6, John Mawson 21-7 and Marjorie Leeming 21-7 doing the damage for the hosts.

Shipley Club C defeated Bowling B 18-10, with Bruce Woodburn 21-7, Vanessa Ratcliffe 21-8 and Jordan Preston 21-9 starring for the hosts, with Sheila Krysik replying for Bowling with a 21-7. Philip Ford 21-5 and Rod Clough 21-8 helped Thornton to an 18-10 win at Oakenshaw B.
