HAVING come close on two occasions already, Pudsey A finally recorded their first victory in the Bradford Table Tennis League Division One.

Pudsey had drawn twice but let 5-3 leads slip on both occasions, so it was third time lucky when they entertained Hermits B.

Once again, they were 5-3 ahead as Zoe Cheeseman and Joanna Roberts won two each with Richard Abrahams adding a single.

The nerves crept in when Cheeseman lost the last singles to Keith Powell but the two Pudsey girls made no mistake in the doubles this time, winning in straight games for a 6-4 success.

In Division Three, Baildon C lost their 100 per cent record when they were held to a draw at Thornbury. The home side were 5-3 up as David Wilson won all three and Kaleem Afzal took two but Jerry Harkaway won the last singles for Baildon and joined Shirley Toulmin to win the doubles 3-0 and salvage a draw for Baildon.

In the Yorkshire League, Phil Mann celebrated his 100th appearance for Bradford with an unbeaten performance for the second team at Huddersfield-2. Paul Mckrieth also won three and Mick Kosmowsky two as Bradford ran out 9-1 winners.

Bradford-3 went down 8-2 at home to a very good York-2 team, with Tony McGowan and Chris Town winning one each for Bradford.
