SEDBERGH Police Boxing Club may need to find a bigger venue after their latest show at Odsal proved a smash hit.

Coach Peter Cannon quickly flogged all 400 tickets for the 14-bout bill at the Bradford Bulls conference suite and admitted: "We could have sold a lot more.

"That's what funds our club and we might have to look for somewhere larger next time. But it's the cost that can make it difficult.

"We are the biggest in the area and have more carded boxers than any other local club but people don't seem to want to take notice.

"We're very grateful to the sponsors and those who help us out in general but it is hard."

Sedbergh produced a mixed set of results on the night against local opponents, although Cannon felt there were a couple of "debatable" verdicts.

He felt that Danny Manley, in particular, was hard done by in the bout of the night against Bradford Police opponent Bilal Ali. Manley lost a cracking contest on a split decision but Cannon claimed: "We had him three rounds up."

Adam Walmsley left no room for doubt when he stopped Kyle Lord of Barnsley Star in just 26 seconds to register his fifth win on the trot.

Liam Haigh showed he had not lost his punching power after four years out of the ring when he knocked out Damian Hunt (White Rose).

Jack Kilduff also claimed a stoppage in the second round against Barnsley Star opponent Jake Edwards.

Cody Pearson, son of former Bradford professional middleweight Gavin, lost a split decision on his debut against Tom Collywood from Sheffield's Parson Cross club. But his twin brother Cole fared better to beat Keighley's Jack Hinchcliffe.

John Dugdale was named boxer of the night after his points victory over Eastburn's Max Robinson and there was a third-round stoppage win for Bobby Pointon against Keighley's Zac Dodgson.

Marcus Whitham finished on the wrong end of a split call against Tyler Brockhurst (Hebden Bridge) and Billy Knight suffered the same fate to Marcus Gott (Parson Cross).

Freddie Taylor got the unanimous nod over Keighley's Lewis Roberts and Morgan Sandham won by the same margin in his bout against Davidas Luinys from the White Rose club in Wakefield.

But his brother Regan was beaten by Faisal Mahmood of Karmand.
