BOXING prospect Harris Akbar is bringing Commonwealth gold back to Bradford from the other side of the world.
Akbar, from Bradford College boxing academy, claimed the only winner's medal for England in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa.
The highly-rated teenager outpointed Northern Ireland's Brett McGinty in today's final. Earlier he had overpowered Seychelles opponent Daniel Bonne in the semis, winning by TKO in the third round.
Akbar, who works closely with academy head coach Mally MacIver, follows the recent success of Muhammad Ali's silver medal in the European senior championships in Bulgaria and a bronze from Jade Ashmore at the European youths in Hungary.
