ECCLESHILL A defeated basement club Cranmore 22-8 in the Naylor Premier League, but still face an uphill battle as they try to avoid relegation, with only three home matches left out of seven remaining.

Ian Dewhirst 21-8 and Stephen Walker 21-9 were the pick of seven home winners for Eccleshill.

Littlemoor S&SC A moved further away from trouble with a 22-8 home win over Brighouse Sports A, with wins from Martin Fulton 21-6 and Craig Hebbard 21-8, despite a great 21-9 from Ronnie Wormald for the visitors.

Crossgates are up to fourth as they made it four wins on the bounce with an impressive 20-10 triumph at Ladyhill A, with Mark Taylor's 21-9 the best of seven away winners.

Graeme Dytiche produced a great 21-9 for Shipley Club A, helping them take the aggregate in their home match with Pudsey A, but it was Pudsey who managed six winners in a 15-15 draw.

Tony Green's 21-6 home win for Whitkirk was not enough to guide them to victory as Clayton A carded a 16-14 win, taking the aggregate by a single point.

Graeme Wilson (Audenshaw) and Mark Ferris (Leek) were the latest qualifiers in the £5,300 Brighouse Classic.

Wilson defeated Jimmy Hearne (Wyke) and Gerald Merry (Tarporley) before leaving Matt Hill (Stoke) on ten in the qualifying game, while Ferris beat Scott Fisher (Dendy Grange) and George Podmore (Stoke) before a 21-9 success over Matt Fellows (Stoke).

The action continues tonight, with several Yorkshire county stars in action, including Jack Dyson (Netherton) who takes on Robbie Fitzpatrick (Wirral).

Thomas Hanson (Pudsey) plays Roy Nicholson (Halifax), and Ashley Daykin (Netherton) has a tough opener against Andrew Cairns (Rawtenstall).
