BRADFORD Esprit Diving Club member Joseph Nicholl proved he has plenty of skill when competing in Manchester.

Nicholl won a silver medal with a consistent performance in the boys' C2 (13 years) competition at the 2015 National Skills Finals.

The event attracted the best novice divers from the United Kingdom and Ireland and it was a busy weekend for the 16 Esprit members taking part.

Sophie Mawson made her mark in the girls' Group B (14-16 years) category.

Diving as a guest, after not being allowed to take part the previous day, she placed fourth overall with a score that would have given her a silver had she been able to compete – and she was indeed given a belated runners-up medal.

It was the first national finals for the youngest in the Esprit team – Abbie Hindle, Melissa Barraclough, Owen Taylor and Lawrence Plowman, who competed in the boys' and girls' E (eight to nine years' category), and they were placed sixth, tenth, ninth and 17th respectively.

Imogen Tomlinson and Verity Burns competed in the girls' C1 category (12 years) event, placing 13th and 21st, with Scott Holmes (11th), Tom Blenkinsop (16th) and Ben Mullet (17th) taking part in the boys' event.

Lucy Robinson finished 13th in the girls' C2 (13 years) event, while Hannah Hall performed brilliantly to be seventh in the D1 girls (ten years).

Freya Daines and Rosa Scally, also both competing in their first skills finals, were ninth and 25th in a tough girls' D2 (11 years) competition.

Miles Robinson, competing in his final event for Esprit before concentrating on coaching, was 11th in the boys' Group B (14-16 years) event.
