BRADFORD have five Go-Kan-Ryu (GKR) global karate champions after the four-day World Cup 8 at Liverpool's Echo Arena.
Isabelle Brentley won double gold, while single golds went to Vicki Wright, Katie Warriner, Steve Chadwick and Cyril Farbar.
Silvers went to Deanna Reaves (2), Jennifer Reaves, George Reaves, Chadwick, McKenzie Jordan and Hannah Ali, while Chloe McInnes, Jennifer Reaves, George Reaves, Ali, Jordan Kevin Cooper, Neil Baines, Loiuse Whitehead and Chadwick took bronzes.
In all, 62 competitors took part from the Bradford area out of the total of 1,000 involved in the kata, kumite or both, and the results pleased Peter Killaway, senior instructor for Bradford GKR karate international, who said: "Winning gold was exciting for everyone, but massive congratulations to all of those who took part, gave it their best and didn't win a medal."
GKR international karate has been running for over 31 years and the World Championship is only held every two years, usually either in England or Australia.
