IT WAS a case of close but no cigar for Asa Briggs in the Yorkshire Parks cup finals.

Their A team lost 163-123 to Crossgates in the Brotherton Cup final, while the B team were beaten by Spen Victoria in the Wood Cup decider.

Crossgates made it through to the Brotherton final with wins over Littlemoor and Pudsey A, while Asa Briggs A defeated Yeadon Park A and Clayton A by just a single point.

Yorkshire play South Yorkshire on Sunday in their final group game of the British Parks Senior Team Championship, knowing that victory will guarantee them a place in the final on Sunday, September 20.

The home match will be at the tricky Hanging Heaton green, with the away match at Meersbrook BC.

The matches start at 2pm, and Yorkshire want vocal support at both venues.
