Nun Monkton will be closed on Sunday for a members’ match, which draws in the car park at 9.15am. Raskelf is continuing to fish very well for F1 carp and skimmer bream on meat or maggot. Results of last week's encouraging open evening match on Whinnygill Reservoir: 1 Graeme Waterfall 1370g (3:0:0), 2 Alan Wade 1300g (2:11:12), 3 Malcolm Mawson 940g (2:1:0), 4 Simon Chenior 740g (1:10:0), 5 Andrew Leatt 150g (0:5:8), 6 Kenny Wright 20g (0:0:10). Leading standings with three matches left: 1 ML Mawson 2420g, 2 A Wade 1890g, 3 G Waterfall 1680g, 4 S Chenior 1180g. The members' only match on Sunday is on the Long Ing length of the canal at Barnoldswick, draw near the bridge at 8.15am. On Tuesday, Whinnygill will host another open match, draw 6.30am, fishing for about 2½ hours. On the River Aire, there has been a rapid growth of the streaming weed ranunculas fluitan on most of the shallow lengths, where it is currently in flower. Where the weed is present, only fly fishing is possible and only then with care. On the plus side, it is providing both food and cover for the river's fish.

WASHBURN VALLEY FISHERY

Catch details for week ending July 5 – Day ticket: Fewston 25, Swinsty 6, Thruscross (catch and return) 2; total fish caught: Fewston 98, Swinsty 153lb, Thruscross 9; average per rod: Fewston 3.9, Swinsty 25½lb, Thruscross 4.5. Heaviest fish caught was a 4lb rainbow trout by Dawson using Hopper. Fewston: Rainbows and blue trout have not liked the hot and sticky weather, retreating to deep water until things freshen up. Now feeding on nymph and buzzer. Swinsty: Perch seem to like warmer waters, chasing fly and spinners. Thruscross: Brown trout have been surface feeding on a morning before the sun gets up.

LISTERHILLS AA

Work on fishery improvements at Pilley’s continues. Platforms are undergoing repair and bank clearance has been completed.

Good catch reports from Coppice Pond, which include Paul Wilson's 23lb 2oz mirror carp. Few reports from river venues, although Charlie Dine enjoyed a pleasant morning in Myrtle Park on Sunday, his mixed net including a 6lb 10oz brown trout.
