YORKSHIRE have failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the BRITISH CROWN GREEN COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS – by one chalk!

They finished their programme with a 422-422 draw against Warwick & Worcester but will surely be back next year better and stronger.

The FOUR-A-SIDE KO, sponsored by Kolorco Printers, got under way last Friday with ten first-round matches, and Horton produced the shock of the round, defeating 2013 winners Clayton A by one point, which included a great 31-23 by Eddie Pells for Horton.

The second round takes place on Friday, July 24 across four venues.

Chris Kelly (Sheffield) won the 2015 CLECKHEATON SPORTS CLASSIC and the £1,250 first prize, by defeating Graeme Wilson (Audenshaw) 21-17 in the final.

Kelly came through a tough field to the final by beating Lee Schofield (Hanging Heaton) 21-9 in just 20 ends, Chris Brown (Sheffield) 21-17 after trailing 16-15 and Ryan Clark (Sheffield) 21-19.

Wilson had been in terrific form on his way to the decider, defeating Martin Gilpin (Kendal) 21-15, Conor Chamberlain (Swadlincote) 21-9 and Kevan Shaw (Westhoughton) 21-9.

In the final, Kelly built up a 15-7 lead, only for Wilson to come back strongly to trail 17-16 before Kelly held his nerve to earn his place in the Champion of Champions.
