HECKMONDWIKE Cycle Speedway played host to Hull, who had three-times British champion Andy Angel on their team.
Heckmondwike, whose team consisted of Darren Kent, Mick Knowles, Pawel Idziorek, Adam Watson, Laura Watson and Chris Summersgill were going to have to dig in hard. Both sides gained four 7-3 maximum heat wins.
Going into the last heat, Hecky were one point ahead and secured a 5-5 shared heat to win the match 75-74.
The under-13 team of Tom Whitwam, Ben Summersgill and Declare Summersgill beat Hull 24-12.
