RASTRICK and Laisterdyke B are going head to head for the Bradford Table Tennis League's Division 2B title.

Rastrick scored a crucial victory over their rivals thanks to the experienced Brian Banks.

The match was a tale of two halves as Rastrick dominated at the start by taking the first five sets, with Banks and Mick Whitham winning two each and Ronnie Maystone adding a single.

Laisterdyke were a little unfortunate as Mohammed Murtaza lost 12-10 in the fifth to Whitham and 11-9 in the decider to Banks.

In the second half of the contest, Laisterdyke took four of the last five sets but it was Banks who clinched victory for Rastrick by completing his treble. They are now just three points behind Laisterdyke but have two games in hand.

In Division 2A, Yeadon Flyers B are cruising towards the title. They maintained their unbeaten record with an impressive victory over third-placed Laisterdyke A.

Chris Sanderson and Derek Greenwood were both unbeaten, while Mick Burton added a single as Yeadon secured a 7-3 victory with the title within their grasp.
