BRADFORD'S billiards side strengthened their hold on second place in the YORKSHIRE INTER-DISTRICT LEAGUE with a 7-0 whitewash against Doncaster at Great Horton Cricket Club.

Paul Devitt scored consistently against Doncaster's Dave Palmer to lead 100-46, and further steady scoring took him to 169-55, whereupon Palmer mounted a strong recovery with breaks of 36 and 54. However, Devitt held on for a 200-190 win.

Bradford's Steve Wilman constructed an early break of 45 to lead Graham Guest 95-7, and it didn't get any better for the Doncaster man as Wilman completed a superb 200-35 victory.

A studious Laurence Torn set off with a break of 42 against Bradford captain Stephen Kershaw, who responded with 35 to get on level terms at halfway. Kershaw eventually fell over the line 200-167 as the match descended into a war of attrition.

This season's BRADFORD SNOOKER PAIRS final, yet to be arranged, will be contested between 2012 and 2013 winners Gareth and Anthony Green from the Harold Club, and Undercliffe Cricket Club's Josh Walker (Yorkshire Handicap champion) and Adam Tipper (Bradford Handicap champion).

Both semi-finals were played at Undercliffe Cricket Club, where a good turnout witnessed 3-1 victories for both pairs, the Greens defeating Allerton Conservatives' current Bradford champion John Wellham and his dad Chris, while Tipper and Walker got the better of Undercliffe clubmates Peter Hamilton and Damian Bentley.

The quarter-finals and semi-finals of the YORKSHIRE SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIPS take place on Sunday at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds, with Bradford's three-time former champion Wayne Cooper and Anthony Green in action.

The quarter-final draw onwards will be made with all of the surviving players in attendance, and it is hoped that both Bradford representatives will feature in the final, which will be played as part of the Yorkshire Association's presentation evening in May.
