HAVING recently claimed first place in the girls nine years' 50 metres backstroke at a previous Yorkshire Championships, nine-year-old City of Bradford Swimming Club member Sophia Basaraba has added the 200m title to her achievements in 2min 58.56sec

Dalton Clapham produced some outstanding performances in claiming no less than ten top-ten finishes in the boys' 11 years' age group.

Showing his versatility, he claimed silver medals in the 400m and 1500m freestyle and the 400m individual medley.

His other medal-winning events were the 200m butterfly and freestyle, where he claimed bronzes in times of 2.55.52 and 2.26.11 respectively.

Following his medal haul, Dalton went onto claim fourth place in the 200m medley, fifth in the 100m butterfly, sixth in the 200m breaststroke and tenth in both the 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke.

City's other medallist was Abigail Shuttleworth, swimming in the girls' 14-15 years' age group.

She finished third in the 200m butterfly and went on to claim four other top-ten finishes in the 400m and 200m medley, 400m freestyle and 100m butterfly.

Breaststroke specialist James Lund finished sixth in the 15-16 years' 100m breaststroke and seventh in the 200m event.

Preferring the longer events, Jovana Lugonja finished sixth in the 16 and over 400m medley and eighth in the 200 medley and 400m freestyle.

Eleven-year-old Archie Minto had top-ten finishes in the 100m and 200m butterfly and 100m freestyle.

Bringing up the rear, with one top-ten finish to their credit, were Mille Foulds, John-Luke Hutchinson and Adam Mitchell.

The Yorkshire team events also proved successful for City in both boys' and girls' events

The boys' 11-12 years' freestyle team of Archie Dunne, Adam Mitchell, Archie Minto and Dalton Clapham claimed a bronze medal in their event, while the medley sixth place.

Top-ten finishes went to the girls' 15-16 years' freestyle team of Millie Foulds, Beth Meer, Azura Cairns-Poole and Jovana Lugonja, and the medley team when Emma Blaby replaced Foulds.

The boys' 15-16 years' teams of George Wilde, Sam Naylor, Gianni Vienza and James Lund finished fifth in the medley event and seventh in the freestyle event.
