BRADFORD boxer Darren Tetley is hoping to make short work of his next ring outing at Doncaster on Saturday.

Leicester-born opponent Luke Brassfield is listed at only 5ft 1in – giving the unbeaten Holme Wood fighter a ten-inch height advantage.

Tetley, who has two knock-outs in his four professional wins, said: "I've sparred a few people shorter than me but not that short. It's got to be a printing error!

"You can look at it two ways, fighting short guys. You are punching down but also, if they've got to get inside, they can walk on to some heavy shots.

"That's the plan for me; to keep it long and not be reckless. I'd love another stoppage but I don't want to get carried away.

"Once you start swinging, you open yourself up and anyone's got a puncher's chance. He is going to come to win and I will be ready for that."

Brassfield will be fighting his third paid-for contest after five years as an amateur boxing for the Army. It is expected to be at 10st 10lb.

For Tetley, it's another opportunity to impress before he looks to step up to the next level. He has been sparring with Joe Murray, who is challenging for the British and Commonwealth super-featherweight belts on the same night in London.

Tetley said: "When I first went pro, I didn't want to jump up and down saying I'm going to do this and that.

"But I think it's time that I looked to challenge myself now and perhaps look to fight away from home next time.

"As an amateur, I boxed the best in the country and abroad and I don't want to be one of those who only fight journeymen through their career.

"Fighting in someone else's backyard would be a different experience. You earn more respect and could get offered a bigger fight on the back of that."
