EMBASSY Police B are battling hard for a top-seven place in Division One of the Bradford Table Tennis League, with the halfway split just three matches away.

They began a run of four matches against teams below them with a home victory over Fastbats B, captain Tony Boyd leading from the front as they made no mistake in a must-win fixture.

Boyd took all three singles, while Jak Dabrowski and Peter Clarkson won two apiece in an 8-2 scoreline.

In Division Three, Baildon C are also in a fight for a top-half spot – but they were denied a much-needed victory by Bradford College, who have yet to win in their debut season but drew on this occasion.

Baildon are just one set ahead of Unity E and face three matches against teams above them, so victory over the new boys appeared essential.

The college team had the star performer in Yutaro Tsuji, who did not drop a game in winning his three singles.

Graham Burrill added a single yet Baildon led 5-4 as Shirley- Anne Toulmin and John Jennison both won twice, while Ken

Fletcher took one.

But the college duo of Tsuji and Burrill denied Baildon overall success by taking the doubles 11-6 in the fifth game for their fourth draw of the season.
