TASIF Khan has apologised to his fans after not being able to fight at the weekend.

The Girlington professional, who has been out of action for 18 months with an injury to his left hand, was supposed to be competing at the Control Club in Leeds on Saturday.

However, his Hungarian opponent David Kanalas pulled out just hours beforehand with an unspecified injury.

"I just want to apologise to all my fans – there were about 100 to 150 coming – but there was nothing I could do about it," said Khan.

"They tried to get me a replacement opponent but there just wasn't time."

Super-flyweight Khan, who is backed by Kingsland Business Recovery and Asian clothing shop Janan, has had a difficult two years but now hopes to make his comeback at the end of next month.

Khan, a professional since 2005, gave up work as a primary school teacher in 2012 to go full-time and was tipped for a Central Area or English title fight before his injury.

Success there would have led to a potential British title bout – something Bradford's former world champion Junior Witter believed he is capable of.
