HEWENDEN AC

Result of the coarse match on Sunday, fished by 11 members with 27lb total weight caught: 1 Nigel Bower 6lb 10oz (peg 34), 2 Bob Hall 5lb 3oz (peg 30, far bank section), 3 Keith Turner 4lb 3oz (peg 28, near bank section), 4 Steve Vaughan 3lb 6oz (peg 25). The far bank seems to be producing the better weights of skimmers and bream on light tackle, with small amounts of feed little and often. There is a pike match on Sunday, November 30. All members are welcome to enter, providing they have all of the suitable tackle the club requires. Please read the yearbook for full details. Entry is £10, drawing at 9am in the car park.

LISTERHILLS AA

There will be no increase in membership fees in 2015. The canal at Newley has been producing good catches of quality fish, with perch to nearly 2lb and roach to 1lb. Watchers are still finding anglers without a valid permit and seem to think that the canal means free fishing. This is not so and the various lengths of this canal are under the control of different angling clubs. Result of the canal open aggregate: 1 D Stephenson 17lb 5oz, 2 M Mannion 15lb 7½oz, 3 E Harrison 13lb 6oz (all based at Leeds Angling Centre). The merit trophy winner is J Harrison for several wins in non-trophy matches at Alleys.

BRADFORD No 1 AA

Adrian Lewis caught three chub for 7lb 11oz to win the open match on the River Swale at Thornton Bridge and Maunby. The match went ahead as planned, despite the river carrying extra water and colour, and produced a number of chub – including two for Pete Vickerman for 6lb 9oz and second place, followed by Andy Fox with 6lb 6oz. The next river open match will be at Cowthorpe on Sunday, December 14, with tickets available from Simon on 01274-571175. Widdington Hall will be closed this Sunday for an outside booking. Membership for 2015 should be available from the middle of next month.

WASHBURN VALLEY

The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 3lb 10oz rainbow trout landed by John Holbrook using black Zulu. Fewston: Bigger trout are now sitting deep as the water's surface cools. Blue and rainbows are feeding late morning on buzzer and nymph driven by the water's flow. Swinsty: Perch are still happy to feed and chase spinners in cold water. Catch details (week ending November 9): Day ticket: Fewston 13, Swinsty 1; total fish caught: Fewston 46, Swinsty 3; average per rod: Fewston 3.5, Swinsty 3. Thruscross: Closed season.
