WASHBURN VALLEY

The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 4lb 8oz rainbow trout by I Buck using Dawson's Olive. Fewston: Colder mornings and fresh water has spurred trout into feeding at all levels on all manner of flies. Swinsty: Perch mostly, with the odd bream and trout, are taking brightly-coloured spinners. Thruscross: Close season. Catch details (week ending Sunday, October 26) – Day ticket: Fewston 9, Swinsty 2; total fish caught: Fewston 68, Swinsty 8; average per rod: Fewston 7.6, Swinsty 4.

The heaviest fish caught during October was a 5lb 4oz rainbow trout by Gavin Jack using Sedge. Fewston: Rainbow and blue trout seem settled to cooler conditions. Fishing is now consistently good, with trout rising to dry fly as well as chasing lures. Swinsty: Perch is the mainstay and it is always fun chasing spinners far too large. Washburn Valley (Fewston and Swinsty) open seven days up to the end of November, then Saturdays and Sundays only. Catch details (month ending Sunday, October 26) – Day ticket: Fewston 57, Swinsty 9; total fish caught: Fewston 254, Swinsty 25; average per rod: Fewston 4.5, Swinsty 2.8.
