A GUNG-HO attitude paid dividends for Bradford's David Brook in the final round of the Thundersport GB Superstock Championship at Mallory Park.

Knowing that if he fell off he had five months to repair body and bike, the 28-year-old from Clayton Heights adopted an aggressive approach, and it bore fruit with a second place in qualifying and two seconds and a fourth in the races themselves to secure third place in the overall championship.

Brook said of his efforts on his Arkoni Ltd ZX10: "I was really pleased with my results at Mallory, and to come away with third in the Superstock Championship was great.

"The bottom line, with the spike in results, was that I was prepared to crash every time I rode if need be to get the results. Injury wasn’t a concern as I had the whole winter to recover and a potential eye-watering bill to repair the bike could be spread over the next five months if the worst happened!

"To head into the winter with such a positive result is a real confidence boost and, as any committed rider will tell you, there isn’t a day goes by between races where you don't think about a poor result from the previous round, so it’s motivating to make sure I pick up where I left off in 2015, at the front!

Brook added: "I also came away from the meeting with some areas to work on with the bike over the winter. Having mixed it with the big boys at the front of the grid, it has highlighted that my totally stock engine is holding me back.

"I estimate I am around ten to 15 horsepower down on the front group so I have sold my trials bike to fund a full Arrow race exhaust and engine blueprint to level things out. Fingers crossed I can really push on in 2015."

Brook, who is backed by title sponsor Arkoni Fire Rated Glazing of Brighouse, is, however, hopeful of more additional sponsorship next year. He can be contacted on 07985-654078.
